Are you talking about the Oxbridge banner thingy? It's just a picture that was copied and pasted into the header.
Go into your layout section of your Dashboard -- it's incredibly easy for a computer savvy person such as yourself :)
The blog looks great! I'm looking forward to hearing all about your travels... and will be wishing I was there with you!! :)
